Fine Art- Urban Cityscapes of Evanston & Chicago (Museum Prints & Consignment available)
"These images serve as a historical account of the contemporary urban landscape. In all my work I challenge myself to capture a unique portrait of everyday life while forcing an aggressive 2-point perspective, choosing a “retro” inspired palette to block in the shapes and employing turn-of the century glazing techniques to draw out the sense of depth, atmosphere, warmth, and shadow.

While businesses in the area struggled to stay open, I chose this setting to mark the strength and resolve of area owners to survive. As a Newsstand, this business has remained an anchor to the Main Street Community in Evanston, Illinois since the 1930s. I used a “retro" color palette and muted values to convey the timeless quality of this image. Struck by the isolation of this once lively urban landscape I captured the warmth and long shadows of the mid-morning sun in warm values and cool glazes. The rendering of the clock and the namesake antique store (est.1968) housed in this turn of the century building stand as a testament to a "Lost Era". 12 x 16 Oil on Gessobord Prints Available | The Fish KegSOLD Prints available Another 3rd generation Family-owned business, the Fish Keg has been serving no-frills faire the Edgewater and Evanston Community since 1951.
